PROGRAM FOR HOME WATER AND SEPTIC TO PROTECT OUR HEALTH AND OUR LAKES
“80% of all infectious diseases are water-related and septic systems are the most frequently reported source of well & groundwater contamination. it is estimated that half of all well water contains contaminants“. - Crews Environmental
Failing or malfunctioning septic systems pose risks to human and animal life and can pollute the environment. Septic and well water quality are directly connected, so if you want to be drinking, cooking, bathing using heathy, contaminant free water, you must make sure your septic system is working properly and you should test your water. At a minimum, Penn State recommends testing every 12-14 months for bacteria (total coliform and E.coli. bacteria), and every three years for pH and total dissolved solids.
The Stewards of Twin Lakes has worked with several local organizations to provide all residents of the Twin Lakes watershed a comprehensive offering of septic inspections, pump-outs and well water testing. We hope you will take advantage of these offers to make sure your well water is safe to drink to ensure you and your family's personal health as well as protect the quality of our groundwater and lake water.
